Siding

Siding is what actually keeps water out of the wall assembly. We replace failed siding and correct the detailing underneath it rather than covering the problem over.

Materials

Options and Trade-offs

The most common and least expensive option. Low maintenance, wide colour range. Does not hold paint — the factory colour is permanent.

Advantages

  • Lowest installed cost of the three main siding types
  • No painting required — factory colour is baked in
  • Does not rot, and resists insect damage
  • Light weight — does not require structural modification

Trade-offs

  • Can crack or shatter on impact, especially in cold weather
  • Colour fades over time with UV exposure — no repainting option
  • Cheaper profiles look thin and can warp under direct Texas sun
  • Not a structural material — it relies on the sheathing beneath for rigidity
