Warranty
A 5-Year Workmanship Warranty
Every project comes with two separate protections: the manufacturer's warranty on the materials, and our 5-year workmanship warranty on the installation. They cover different things, last different lengths, and are voided by different actions — so we explain them apart.
Warranty Manufacturer Material Warranty Covers defects in the roofing materials themselves — shingles, underlayment, metal panels, flashing. Issued by the material manufacturer, not by Hartman. | Warranty Hartman 5-Year Workmanship Warranty Covers our labour and installation. If something we did causes a problem, we come back and fix it. This is our warranty, not the manufacturer's. | |
|---|---|---|
| What it covers | Manufacturing defects in the materials: premature granule loss, cracking, delamination, or failure to meet stated performance specifications. | Defects in installation: leaks caused by improper flashing, poor nail placement, deck preparation failures, or any other workmanship error. |
| Typical term | Varies by product and manufacturer. Architectural shingles typically carry a 25–50 year limited warranty. Metal panels and tile are longer. The exact term depends on the product line selected for your project. | 5 years on our workmanship. The complete written terms are part of your contract. |
| What voids it | Improper installation (which is why the workmanship warranty matters separately), failure to maintain ventilation requirements, unauthorised modifications, and acts of God vary by manufacturer. | The exclusions are written into your contract, and we walk you through them before you sign — so there are no surprises later. |
| How to claim | Contact the manufacturer directly. We will help you document the defect and provide our installation records, but the warranty is between you and the manufacturer. | Call us directly. We come out, confirm the issue is workmanship-related, and schedule the repair. No claim form, no runaround. |
Why this distinction matters
The most common warranty dispute in roofing is a homeowner who believes their “lifetime warranty” covers everything, only to find that the manufacturer covers the shingle and the contractor covers the installation — and the problem falls in the gap between them.
We separate these plainly so you know what you are getting, from whom, and under what conditions. Before you sign anything, we walk through both documents with you.
